Building on the 2011 initiative, STA will again provide a day-long series of talks on the key issues in running a scientific society or similar organisation. Issues covered will include:
* Society governance
* Legal issues
* Cost effective websites
* The growing world of social media and how and why to use it
* Declining membership numbers, and
* Event and conference planning.
Acknowledged experts in these areas will present talks, with plenty of time for questions and discussion. A new feature this time will be member society case studies, where a society reports back on their experience of making change. Discussion will focus on how well the process worked, and the ultimate impact.
The draft agenda is available here.
