Climate Science for Business Champions

Thursday 17 November 2011

3pm – 6pm

CSIRO Auditorium, Bradfield Road, West Lindfield, Sydney NSW

Climate Science for Business Champions will provide an opportunity for business, industry, community leaders and the general public to hear accurate and verified information about global warming, the problem, the causes and the need for solutions and leadership.

Over the course of this 3-hour forum climate science experts will provide information that is easy to understand and participants will have an opportunity to ask questions about what climate change means for their businesses and communities.

Forum Speakers

MC – Dr Cathy Foley, President of Science & Technology Australia

Dr Sandra Shuster, formerly of Munich Re insurance in Australasia – addressing the climate change impacts on risk and liability.

Dr Mike Raupach, CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research will provide a general introduction and about the carbon cycle and the agricultural sector.

Professor Tony McMichael, ANU Climate Change Institute and National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health will provide information about human health

Professor Lesley Hughes, of Biological Sciences at Macquarie University will provide information on land based ecosystems.

Dr Ben McNeil, of the Climate Change Research Centre at the University of NSW will provide information on marine ecosystems.

Dr John Hunter, of the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems CRC at the University of Tasmania will provide information on coastal infrastructure

Importantly, the Climate Science for Business Champions forum will enable industry leaders to take practical knowledge back into their workplaces and communities with the confidence to lead change.
