The ARC Training Centre for Medical Implant Technologies specialises in personalised 3D printed orthopaedic and maxillofacial implants. CMIT brings together world-leading biomedical engineers, scientists, and clinicians and connects these experts with medical implant global supply chain providers from Australia, China, Belgium, U.K. and the U.S.A. The goal of CMIT is to support research translation which leads to the development of best industry and clinical practice, new products, processes and solutions.

CMIT undertakes research across four nodes: The University of Melbourne, Flinders University, Griffith University and Epworth Healthcare. The centre has 22 partners from industry, academia, hospitals and government that represent the global value chain for 3D printed personalised implants.

CMIT will build a robust training environment for interdisciplinary engineers to develop and evaluate personalised implants and surgical solutions. The Centre will create new networks, international collaborations and a generation of industry-ready researchers critical to growing Australia’s burgeoning medical implant industry.
