Deborah Hawthorne is a North-East Victorian pharmacist working in General Practice clinics, aged care facilities and community dwellings as well as multidisciplinary telehealth teams.

Her consultancy business' clinical activity includes Home Medicines Reviews, Residential Medication Management Reviews, chemical restraint consultations and is currently completing her Credentialed Diabetes Educator accreditation to provide extra services to her rural community.

Deborah is a passionate researcher and educator, as the inaugural member of the research group COHERENT, who investigate medication management. The group includes academics from Monash University, the University of Western Australia (UWA) and the University of Sydney. Deborah is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the UWA.

Deborah created and manages the preeminent community of practice for Australian credentialed pharmacists (CoPA). CoPA aims to support and advance the practice of medication review programs which improve medication safety and quality use of medicines. She is also a Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) Victorian Branch Committee member and a board member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Victoria (PSV).

Deborah was awarded the national titles of PSA Consultant Pharmacist of 2023 and PSA Early Career Pharmacist of 2022 for her unwavering dedication to improving patient health outcomes, regardless of location, and expanding pharmacist practice.
