Dr Jocelyne Mulangala supports researchers across Australia by bringing people together, nurturing future scientists, and helping translate research into real-world outcomes.

Originally trained as a vascular biologist, Jocelyne completed her PhD in heart disease, studying how the hardening of blood vessels from calcium buildup affects angiogenesis, the body’s ability to form new blood vessels. Her work explored how this process limits blood flow and healing, with the goal of improving outcomes for patients with Peripheral Arterial Disease.

Transitioning from research into research management, Jocelyne now works at the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences as Events Manager, leading high-impact events that showcase excellence in health and medical research and support researchers in turning their work into practical impact.

Beyond her professional role, Jocelyne is passionate about fostering diversity in STEM and mentoring students from underrepresented communities to explore careers in science. She believes that everyone deserves a chance to shine in STEM and is dedicated to building a more inclusive and equitable scientific community.

As a Superstar of STEM, she uses her platform to champion inclusion, representation and evidence-based decision-making, driven by a goal to create a healthier and more inclusive future through science.
