STA welcomes new Australian Research Council CEO

Ute Roessner

We extend our warmest congratulations to Professor Ute Roessner AM FAA on her appointment as CEO of the Australian Research Council.

Professor Roessner brings exceptional leadership credentials and a distinguished research career to this crucial role. As Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Initiatives and Infrastructure) at the Australian National University, she has shown outstanding capability in steering major research infrastructure and initiatives that advance Australian science and research.

Her deep experience bridging STEM and HASS disciplines, combined with her proven track record in developing sustainable national research infrastructure, positions her perfectly to lead the ARC in shaping Australia’s research future.

“The STA community warmly congratulates Professor Roessner on her appointment to this crucial role for Australian research,” said STA CEO Ryan Winn.

“Professor Roessner’s collaborative leadership style and deep commitment to research excellence across disciplines will be invaluable assets as she guides the ARC forward.

“Her innovative approach to cross-disciplinary collaboration will help drive Australia’s research ecosystem forward. We look forward to working closely with her as she leads the ARC.”

Professor Roessner will begin her five-year term as CEO on 31 March 2025. In this role, she will guide the ARC in supporting research that delivers economic, social, environmental, and cultural benefits for Australia.
