Advice from the nominations committee

The nominations committee has conducted a thorough review of the Board’s skills matrix and STA forward work program. The committee has identified the following key skills as highly desirable to complement the existing capabilities on the Board and guide the organisation into the future:

  • Science policy and advocacy, experience working on sector wide policy issues is desirable
  • Business development
  • Design and delivery of professional development programs

Candidates are asked to clearly articulate in their applications which of these skills and experiences they can bring to the Board.

In addition to these priority areas, the following core skills and knowledge are valuable in nominees: strategic thinking and planning, financial literacy and acumen, human resources management and leadership, risk management and compliance, and legal expertise.

It is not expected that any single nominee possesses all the identified skills.

The Board recognises the importance of diversity in its composition, including gender, cultural background and professional experience. We encourage applications from individuals who can contribute to this diversity.
