Could this be you? STA’s STEM Sector Policy Committee seeks two members

light-bulb-1246043_1920

Science & Technology Australia seeks two candidates to join our STEM Sector Policy Committee. This body supports our policy and advocacy work. Terms are for two years, and members are required to attend regular committee meetings (6-10 a year). Members also contribute to the development of STA’s policy platform and our policy and advocacy material (estimated minimum commitment of three hours per month). Our latest submissions and reports can be found here.

Candidates must be a member of, or employed by, an STA member organisation.

To apply, please address the following criteria in a statement (two pages maximum):

  • What boards and committee roles have you held previously?
  • What experience do you have in crafting strategy for a STEM-related organisation?
  • How would your skills and attributes help STA to bridge the gap between science and policy?
  • What do you want to achieve for science and technology in Australia?

We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, women, people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, STEM professionals of all ages and LGBTIQA+ people.

The committee membership is also selected to broadly represent the diversity of the STEM sector. To complement the existing committee membership, STA will give special consideration to candidates from the psychological, medical, molecular biological, geological, or computer sciences; public sector STEM professionals; and candidates living and working in WA, SA, NT, TAS or QLD.
