The AMT is a national not-for-profit organisation. Our vision is to develop a nation of creative problem solvers. We work towards achieving this vision through a range of activities and products including:
- High profile competitions like the Australian Mathematics Competition which has seen more than 16 million student participate since 1978 here in Australia and in over 20 countries,
- Teacher resources like Problemo, a digital platform built to help teachers create a culture of problem solving in their classrooms, as well as a range of print publications,
- Enriching learning programs like the Maths Challenge designed to give students and teachers opportunities to explore rich tasks and ideas,
- Initiatives like the Curious Minds program which supports young women in accessing high quality learning and mentoring experiences across the STEM subjects, and
- Support, training and participation of Australia’s European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad, European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics, International Mathematical Olympiad, and International Olympiad in Informatics teams.
We are supported by a vast network of passionate volunteers from Australia and around the world, including academics, members of professional mathematics societies, educators and working mathematicians.
In 2025, the AMT will host the International Mathematical Olympiad in the Sunshine Coast.
