Anne Collins

Superstars of STEM Mentor

Anne is currently part of the Sementis executive team building Australia’s most technologically advanced viral vector vaccine, as Chief Operating Officer, a role that combines her technical expertise in product development and biologics manufacturing (PhD Biochemical Engineering), business operations experience, and global leadership roles.

Anne has built a global career in Australia that has provided insight into many of the challenges of the local sector. As part of US-based Hospira’s Global Biologics team, Anne had exposure to thought leadership in biosimilar development, visibility to how large multinationals make decisions about where to locate R&D and manufacturing, and first-hand experience in how to keep a local subsidiary relevant. More recently Anne was a General Manager with Trajan Scientific and Medical, and a Growth Facilitator within the AusIndustry Entrepreneurs’ Programme (supporting the MedTech Pharma, and Advanced Manufacturing sectors) where she supported Australian businesses to incorporate global thinking such as supply chain, Fx and compliance into their growth plans. Anne has collaborated extensively with academic and government research institutes in technology development and product commercialisation.

Anne led Hospira’s (now BioCina) biologics contract R&D and manufacturing business where she attracted global businesses to work with Australia and supported local biotech start-ups and academia with their biotherapeutic manufacturing and product development strategy.

Anne’s role with Sementis involves leading product development, building organisational biologics capability, leading the manufacturing strategy, and creating value through IP and knowledge management. This includes managing a global network of consultants and partners to access contemporary thinking in viral vector development, supporting academic partners to transition from research to development, and translating R&D plans to commercial milestones.
