I currently lead the Cognition and Hearing Loss Research Team at Ear Science Institute Australia. I am also an Adjunct Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia and a Director-Australian Society of Medical Research. My research focuses on investigation of the impact of hearing loss rehabilitation on dementia on both Indigenous and non-indigenous older adults. To date, I have received $3 million from national and international funding schemes. I lead large clinical trials and producing numerous academic outputs (26 research publications; 1 report; 9 manuscripts under review; 11 invited presentations and >70 in total). However, this is matched by my community outreach activities in aged care settings and her drive to ensure improvements to policy (1parliament presentation and 2 royal commission for aged-care submissions). My exceptional standing, relative to career stage, is recognised by 10 awards. I am an associate and a review editor for Frontiers in Neuroscience and an international editorial board member for the Journal of Audiology and Otology. I review grants for the NHMRC, MRFF, Alzheimer’s Research Foundation-UK, and Deafness Research Foundation, UK. In providing valuable leadership I have supervised two PhD, three Honours, four Masters projects to completion. I am currently supervising three Australian PhD projects and four international visiting PhD scholar projects. I mentor students in underprivileged countries through Global Mentorship Initiative.
