The Statistical Society is the peak national body for statisticians. The society provides a vibrant
network for those in working in statistical research and teaching, and has an active Young
Statisticians section. The six states and territory branches host regular meetings and workshops on
the latest developments in statistical theory and practice.
The Society’s overall objective is to further the study, application and good practice of statistical
theory and methods. There are interactions with many other professions, as statistics is an essential
part of multiple scientific fields. The Society’s bi-annual conference showcases the diversity of
statistics in Australia, including in business, the environment, health and teaching.
