Dr Tara Roberson

Research Fellow, Responsible Research; Innovation for Quantum Technologies

ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems

Tara is a postdoctoral researcher at the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQUS).

She is a science communicator and social scientist who works with quantum physicists to understand the implications of emerging technologies in their field. These potential technologies could be applied in a range of areas, such as health, finance, defence, and telecommunications.

Tara's work helps pre-empt positive and negative impacts of quantum technologies. This will help shape technologies that are both socially desirable and created in the public interest.

Tara is passionate about improving diversity and inclusivity in STEM and higher education. She believes that diversity and inclusivity bolsters innovation and creativity while leading to better, more ethical technology design.

A Brisbane local, Tara completed her PhD in Canberra at Australia's National Centre for Public Awareness of Science at ANU. She completed both her Bachelor and Masters degrees at the University of Queensland, and has worked as a science communicator for over six years.
