Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC)

VSSEC

VSSEC is a specialist Match/Science established by the  Victorian Department of Education and Training in 2006  to raise the level of STEM education across the State. 

The Centre places fundamental emphasis on applying evidence about effective teaching methods to its programs and seeks to influence teaching practice in schools as well.

VSSEC’s signature program is the Mission to Mars where , typically Years 7-9 conduct an exploration of the Red Planet.  They encounter and must solve a series of problems which are aligned to the national curriculum.  The Centre also offers program to primary students and the Year 12 Chemistry students as well.  In summary, VSSEC applies the science of teaching to the teaching of science using space as the learning vector.
