Science & Technology Australia is seeking candidates to join our STEM Sector Policy Committee, to support the organisation’s policy and advocacy strategy and work. Terms are for two years, and members are required to participate in monthly Committee meetings and contribute to the formation of policy and advocacy material (a minimum commitment of three hours a month). You can find the latest submissions and reports here.
Candidates looking to apply to join the Committee should be a member of, or employed by, an STA member organisation and address the following criteria in a statement that is no more than two pages:
- What boards and committees have you sat on previously?
- What is your experience in shaping the strategic focus for a STEM-related organisation, association or society?
- What skills and attributes would you bring to assist STA in bridging the gap between science and policy?
- What do you hope to achieve for science and technology in Australia?
—–
We strongly encourage applications from Indigenous Australians, people with disability, people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, STEM professionals of all ages and LGBTIQA+ people.
The Committee is also designed to broadly represent the diversity of the STEM sector, so to complement the existing committee membership, STA will give special consideration to candidates from the mathematical, geological, agricultural or computer sciences; public sector STEM professionals; and candidates living and working in WA, TAS or QLD.
