Big congratulations to the 2023 King’s Birthday Honours recipients

Science & Technology Australia would like to extend its warm congratulations to all the recipients of the 2023 King’s Birthday Honours.

We take great pride in recognising those who are or have been affiliated directly with STA or one of our member organisations and have been awarded honours for their outstanding services and support to the STEM sector. For a list of recipients from our institutional member organisations, please refer to their websites directly.

Professor Julie-Anne CONSIDINE – affiliated with STA member organisation, the Institution for Health Transformation (IHT) at Deakin University
For distinguished service to medicine in the field of emergency nursing, to tertiary education, and to professional associations.

Professor David CRAIK – affiliated with STA member organisation, the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI)
For distinguished service to science in the field of biological and medicinal chemistry, to tertiary education, and as a mentor.

Professor Glenda Margaret HALLIDAY
The University of Sydney – affiliated with STA member organisation, the Australasian Neuroscience Society (ANS)
For eminent service to medical research in the field of neurodegenerative disorders, including the development of revised diagnostic criteria for Parkinson’s disease, and as a mentor.

For significant service to medical research, particularly the treatment of cerebral palsy.

Emeritus Professor Robyn Anne OWENS – affiliated with STA member organisation, ACCESS-NRI
For significant service to science in the fields of computer vision and mathematics.

Professor Anna PEETERS – affiliated with STA member organisation, Institution for Health Transformation (IHT) at Deakin University
For significant service to community health, particularly obesity research.

Distinguished Professor Justine Ruth SMITH – affiliated with the STA Superstars Of STEM program as a Superstar of STEM participant and mentor
For significant service to ophthalmology, particularly research and education.

Adjunct Professor John McGagh – affiliated with STA member organisation, the Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI) at The University of Queensland
For significant service to the mining sector as a chemical engineer.
